The buildings add their own rules, too. Most strata towers control move-ins through a booked service elevator and a loading bay. So access is something you arrange in advance, not on the day.
Reserve a Spot for the Truck
Parking is the first hurdle. Downtown curb space is limited, and a moving truck cannot just idle in a traffic lane. So you reserve space ahead of time.
The City of Vancouver issues temporary street occupancy permits to reserve parking for moving trucks, and asks for 7 to 10 business days to post the signs. So apply early. A reserved spot means the crew works close to the door instead of carrying everything a block.
Book the Service Elevator and Loading Bay
Towers run move-ins through the service elevator. So book it through your concierge or strata council, usually one to two weeks ahead. You also reserve the loading bay for the same window.
Most strata corporations want proof of insurance, as well. Your movers provide a certificate of insurance naming the strata before move day. We handle that paperwork as standard.
West End Walk-Ups Have No Elevator
Not every downtown building is a tower. The West End is full of older walk-ups with no elevator at all. So the move becomes a series of stair carries up narrow, pre-war stairwells.

Know Your Strata’s Move-In Rules
Every strata sets its own rules. Because move-in fees, damage deposits, and allowed hours come from the strata bylaws, they vary from building to building. Many towers limit moves to weekday business hours.
